I would have thought that God’s visions and wonders would be like a slap in the face. You know, so obvious and clear and with the proper immediate reaction … then, God showed up in that large bright cloud and my tiny human brain tried to figure it out. Here it was, this thick, bright mass with its smallest area, like a thick comma or a head curved toward me at the head of the bed. It remained unchanged throughout that night …

Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” (Genesis 28:16)
It has been nearly six months since Curt’s death, and I want to share something I witnessed before his last breath. As I only understood the supernatural significance of the wonder of the cloud in the light of day, this too has become clear to me only recently.
The paramedics secured an oxygen mask on Curt’s pale face. I thought f e a r caused him to fiddle with it - and, who knows, maybe it was fear, initially. But, then …
Curt turned his face toward me and pulled the mask from his colorless lips. His jaw dropped open as he looked past me ... through me ... with eyes opened wider than ever before ...
I shared this moment many times with friends and family, understating the 'activity in his eyes,' I was, unfortunately, steeped in my own fear and imminent loss, and could not see past his impending death into the life that awaited him...
My grief blinded me to what was truly transpiring in that moment, and tears continued to cloud my vision ...
The moment we take our last breath on earth, we take our first in heaven. - Billy Graham
I would love the opportunity now, to explore those vibrant hues that danced within the snow-white frames of Curt's saucer shaped eyes. Maybe then I could attempt to paint a picture of the jewel tones of indescribable color that reflected the glory beyond our mere existence ...
Curt's mouth agape, not in fear as I initially interpreted …
but, in a w e
Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
Revelation 21:4, 11, 18-25
And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
Exodus 24:10
